Got myself a new pair of thighs!

I'm in this funny-smelling internet place in Garberville somewhere south of the Humboldt Redwoods. My legs are extremely tired, but not as much as they should be... Two days ago, we were in such a good mood that we decided to forget about the day off we had planned to go hiking in the sequoia forests and to go on the "lost-coast-alternate" route. We knew it would take us away from the 101-traffic and probably allow for some amazing views for two days. Which it did. Big time! We also knew it was going to be tough. Looking at the profiled maps, it actually looked like a complete killer. But I guess we wanted to try how far we could go...

Now I can just say I surpassed myself. It was more than killer. For those who know Quebec City, just imagine Gilmour Hill followed by Salaberry and that for around 15km on a windy road with heaps of holes and bumps and loose gravel. And that was just the start... Seriously, it was enormous! But eventually, we got to the coast and there was literally not a soul. Beautiful! But it went on and on and on and the first day we went for 100km most of which were uphill and very very steep. Ridiculous!

But as Jeff said that same morning to some other cyclist: "You just have to keep on pedaling." That's what we did. The second day was a joke in comparison. Even if it started with a 20km-climb on pretty rough road. Still, we kept on pedaling and eventually got to the top. The reward was a beautiful ride through an enchanted forest. Jeff kept on saying, he found riding through forests was boring until we got into the Redwoods. It's magical! Makes you think you're a Jedi...

Now, we're kind of tired but still happy and slowly moving towards the end of our trip. Whatever happens from now on, I'm not scared of hills anymore. That's what I've learned so far.

Still missing Berlin. And my family. And dancing...
